For the last couple years I've understood that when pain-body arises within me, it is best to just surrender to it, feel it, not judge it, and move through it.
Lately I've been "letting in" a new awareness: there are times that I simply don't understand my pain-body. Although sometimes it makes sense (such as when a disappointing event occurs and the pain-body results), there are other times when it simply arises for seemingly no reason...and there's no figuring it out. In fact, trying to understand it results in more confusion, and more pain.
I'm someone who typically likes to figure things out. I enjoy puzzles, games, and figuring out mysteries. However, I'm gradually realizing that when the pain-body arises, it simply doesn't always make sense.
Eckhart Tolle, the originator of the phrase "pain-body" states that sometimes it is old pain coming to the surface, sometimes we are feeling a "collective pain-body" that comes from being part of humanity, and sometimes even astrological configurations can trigger its emergence.
Clearly, with all of the various factors that can trigger pain-body, it's impossible that it will always "make sense."
I believe that my desire to understand its "cause" whenever I'm "in it" comes from my ego. It's as if I believe I can "have more power over" something if I understand it. But when my pain-body is present, it's ultimately not about conquering it so much as allowing it.
So I am releasing my tendency of "having to figure it out" and instead surrendering to a willingness to just accept that it is...until it is not.
Peace,
Chris
