Question from brooke
I get a couple images when I think of the dark red caverns you describe. Growing up in the West, we are inundated with visions of hell. It sounds like this place represents your own "personal hell." One of the best definitions of "hell" that I've heard, comes from Conversations with God, I believe. Hell is not being who you are.
Since you're on a sincere path of becoming yourself authentically regardless of what others think, I have a feeling these images will dissipate.
Sometimes when we become physically ill it is so we are forced to deal with the pain within us. I was feeling that these the image of "dark red caverns" may be symbolic of what Eckhart Tolle would call your pain-body. When sick, or otherwise incapacitated, we are often forced to deal with unresolved emotional pain...and the stomach is largely associated with emotions. Symbolically, you may need to "digest" some emotional experiences that are still unresolved.
My sense is that it may be useful to explore these caverns in a sober, healthy, conscious state of mind and see what you find there. If you can go into the pain and feel it, it will most likely dissipate. It may also reveal deeper insights regarding what past events have led to the pain.
Of course, it may not be specific events so much as the accumulation of suffering that comes from being sensitive in an abrasive world, which can sometimes feel like hell. Regardless of the origins of the pain, I have personally experienced that Tolle's suggestion of feeling the pain-body does indeed help transmute it into consciousness.
Peace,
Chris
