The cliched version of a spiritually mature individual is typically of an elderly person with gray hair and quiet energy. Lately I've been realizing that my spirit self has always been present, even when I was a child.
The spirit, my true identity, doesn't evolve or grow into itself. It is always there. What feels like an evolving spirit is the mind aligning itself with spirit, and releasing ego. But spirit, by its nature, is always in its true form. That's just how it rolls.
As a child, I may not have had the vocabulary to express myself as I can now, or the conscious awareness of my spirit...but it was still there, fully formed. I was expected to play childlike roles, and sit at a desk for thousands of hours throughout my scholastic conditioning process, but my true self has always been there.
Children have their wise self within them, and need not be "talked down to" because adults like them to be "cute" and "innocent." Our entire life is a journey that is travelled with our authentic self. The frustration we often feel is a lack of environmental support for who we truly are, but this is changing. More people are awakening to who they are beyond their socialization, and as we see life clearly, we realize that babies, children, teens, and adults are not "different kinds of people." They are all people, at different physical stages, but always connected to their true self. We are wise to allow their truth to be spoken, even when it inconveniences our preferences.
