Few Things Are Truly Problems

I was reflecting tonight on how all we really need is food, water, sleep and shelter. If we have those 4 things, we're in good shape. And yet the human mind is so often upset about so many different things. We have learned in this world that it is acceptable to be upset about a variety of things that really don't threaten our well-being. Instead, these various concerns are often just a threat to our ego.

To diminish our ego, it's helpful to ask ourselves when upset: Am I endanger of losing the ability to acquire food, water, sleep or shelter? Usually, the answer is no. And (as an added bonus) if we have fewer worries, we're more likely to sleep well. When well-rested, we manifest our other basic needs by receiving guidance with greater clarity.

One thing that we may worry about that really doesn't threaten our well-being in reality is what others are up to. Like most things, not worrying about what others think, do, or say takes practice. Most of us have incorrectly learned that the behaviors of others are very important, but they're not. All that's important is that we are not subjecting ourselves unnecessarily to unpleasant behaviors. As long as we can set boundaries, we are being self-respecting, and not allowing opinions or words to infiltrate our peaceful sphere of being.

Although money is an important part of life, it is tempting in this world to not care about money, especially if you're on a spiritual path. In comparison to the higher goals you are here to achieve, money seems rather insignificant at times. However, money is merely a symbol that represents choices. The more choices you have, the less time you spend in "survival mode" and are more free to explore more interesting aspects of life. So if you're feeling economically challenged, stop focusing on insignificant things, then listen for guidance. If you're clear, you will be guided in a direction that will help you take care of your basic needs. Simply follow through with what you're guided to do, and you'll be fine.

When you are able to take care of yourself, you'll naturally feel drawn to helping others take care of themselves as well. Sometimes you will feel charitable and share what you have, and sometimes you will be even more helpful if you empower others to take care of themselves so you are not creating dependence. Each situation is different, and if you listen to your feelings, you'll know how to handle it.

Imagine a world in which everyone has food, water, sleep and shelter. There would still be other challenges to overcome, but it would be a truly wonderful thing if everyone had the ability to have their basic needs met. It is actually an attainable goal. Hold on to this vision of abundance and you will help to manifest a more peaceful world.

Peace,
Chris
